Facility Description
Situated in a beautiful craftsman style farmhouse and surrounded by 10 acres of North Carolina forest and wild flowers, Carolina House, located in Durham, offers residential treatment for eating disorders, providing exceptional and supportive care to individuals with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorders, and related issues.

Treatment Philosophy
We seek to treat the whole person, and promote the development of strong, life-long emotional and behavioral skills that honor a person’s unique situation and needs. Carolina House utilizes an approach that values a patient's complete life, including family, community, culture, value systems, spiritual traditions, and integration within the larger world. The relationships we form with our patients are founded on dignity and respect, with an understanding and appreciation of the role that an eating disorder has played in their lives.

Family Program
Our model values a family-systems approach, and firmly believes that healing can only occur when the whole person and her or his contexts are considered in their fullness. We believe that working with patients' families is a critical component to our therapeutic task. Family therapy sessions are part of the daily programming with bi-monthly intensive family training and support.
